BlinkBlinkBlink is the title of a solo show from 2006 featuring a new body of work, paintings mixing gestural and geometic abstraction. I arrived at the idea accidentally while attempting to 'correct' a disaster in the studio and then ran with a more structured version of the idea executed in different sizes. The wide chromatic range is indicative of the experimentation I used in process. There are more paintings in the series, not shown here. During this project, I was reading James Joyce's Ulysses for the first time, and the painting titles are culled from the text of Joyce's book.
